Editor's Notes

Our 1 Qt. 20 Oz. Eastman Tritan plastic vantage wine decanter offers you a practical way to decant and serve wine. It is made from a clear, durable plastic, which means you don't have to worry about it breaking. Eastman Tritan is a respected brand, known for their tough, durable material. This decanter in particular is made of a breakthrough copolyester without BPA. This gives it glass-like clarity, while also being dishwasher safe. It measures 9 1/2" in height. If you own a restaurant or some other similar establishment, you will know that not every wine has to be in a decanter. However, aged Bordeaux, vintage port, or any other wine that sediments with age, should be decanted. This is because it separates it from the sediment, making it look nicer in the glass, and making it taste more astringent. It is very important, however, that the wine is decanted carefully and slowly, so that the sediment remains in the bottle, leaving you with a decanter that is clear and nice. Subsequently, once poured in the glass, it will have the same consistency. Decanting also allows the wine to aerate. A lot of young wines in particular can be closed or tight on the palate or nose. When pouring it into the decanter slowly, the wine will take oxygen in, opening up the flavors and aromas. This is particularly important for full bodied and highly tannic wines, including Syrah blends, Syrah, Cabernet blends, and Cabernet Sauvignon, to name but a few.
